Dimitre Bistrev
Founder and Mentor of Bistrev Group
Dimitre Bistrev is the founder of Bistrev Group. He is a visionary dental technician whose experience and innovations shape the outlines of contemporary dental technology in Bulgaria and abroad.
As a second-generation dental technician, Dimitre’s career path began in Plovdiv, where he graduated with a passion for dentistry passed down in his family.
Eager to improve his skills, Dimitre traveled to Vienna, Austria, where he developed his skills under the supervision of master technician Rudolf Mueller. His quest for knowledge then led him to Windsor, Canada where he collaborated with some of the very best dental technicians in Ontario. It was there that Dimitre helped pioneer the development of one of the first CAD/CAM systems, Nobel Biocare’s Procera, which revolutionized dental restorations.
In 1995, Dimitre established his first dental laboratory in Canada, setting new standards in dental technology. A decade later, he returned to his roots in Bulgaria and opened his second dental lab in Sofia.
His commitment to innovation continues, introducing CAPTEK technology to Bulgaria, earning his lab five prestigious Townie awards. Dental Laboratory Bistrev Group was the first to bring CAD/CAM systems to this part of the world, introducing Procera systems to Bulgaria.
Dimitre’s experience extends beyond the lab – he is an experienced lecturer who shares his dental knowledge across Europe.
Today, Dimitre is also the founder of Medical-Dental Center Bistrev Group, a full-service clinic seamlessly integrated with his dental laboratory in the bustling heart of Sofia.
Specialists
Dr. Stefan Andreev
Dr. Stefan Andreev graduated from the Faculty of Dental Medicine – Sofia in 2007. He has undergone a number of trainings in the field of dental implantology, root canal treatment, restoration of teeth with the help of crowns and bridges and aesthetic dentistry. He has extensive experience in full mouth prosthetic rehabilitation, both on implants and natural teeth, to restore full mouth function.
Dr. Nicholas Bistrev
Associate Professor Katerina Akabalieva
Assoc. Katerina Akabalieva is a specialist in psychiatry with over 15 years of experience in clinical practice, teaching and research. Within the dental practice Assoc. Akabalieva assists patients through clinical psychology consultations, anxiety management and psychological support during healing processes. Her experience spans the country’s leading medical and academic institutions, where she has gained expertise in working with patients in acute and chronic conditions, including addictions, anxiety disorders and psychiatric crises, as well as in interdisciplinary psychosocial support teams.
Dr. Tomas Rasulski
Dr. Thomas Rasulski is a dentist, graduated from Medical University – Sofia. His work focuses on providing comprehensive diagnosis, planning, and treatment of hard dental tissues, adjacent soft tissues and jaw joints, focusing in the areas of periodontal therapy, conservative treatment and endodontics, rehabilitation with prosthetic structures, aesthetics and others. In addition, Dr. Rasulski has undergone specialized training in Italy and Bulgaria, which has allowed him to deepen his expertise and implement innovative methods and better awareness for his patients, providing them with a personalized approach at the heart of good health and quality of life.
Dr. Nadia Borisova Lobo
Dr. Nadia Borisova Lobo is an orthodontist with over 13 years of clinical experience and international practice in Portugal and Bulgaria. She has specialized in Brazil and trained with world leading experts. She is the author of the book “Bad Habits. The Truth Every Parent Needs to Know” and trains fellow colleagues in Europe in functional orthodontics and aligners. She works with children and adults using advanced biomechanical approaches and individualized aligner protocols (Invisalign, Angel Aligners). As the local manager of Angel Aligners for Bulgaria, she is in constant contact with the latest trends in the field.
Dr. Roberto Gonçalves
Dr. Roberto Gonçalves is a renowned specialist in oral surgery, implantology, and periodontology with over 15 years of experience worldwide. He is one of the leading experts in zygomatic implant placement, restoration of severely atrophied jaws, and application of the ALL-ON-4 concept.
He trained and specialized at prestigious universities and clinics in the Dominican Republic, Portugal, Brazil, and Spain. Between 2009 and 2014, he was part of the team at the world-renowned MALO CLINIC in Lisbon, where he worked alongside Dr. Paulo Malo, the creator of ALL-ON-4.
Every year, Dr. Gonçalves performs hundreds of complex surgeries and places over 1,900 dental implants. Today, he is the chief surgeon at one of the largest private hospitals in Portugal – Hospital Trofa in Lisbon.
